the sky's flooding over and i must be gone...

here are some snapshots of the art-life that has been happening around here. life is a series of highs and lows...i had only two platters out of five survive this firing. one platter still had moisture, one grabbed the kiln shelf, and one i have no idea! on the up side i sold one of the intact platters the very same day to a lovely family in town., and the other platter came out really nice. the photo is crappy, doesn't do it justice at all. also my oil paintings are coming along real nice, and thankfully i don't have to worry about them cracking! all in all life is good, emma and i are hanging out this week she is on spring break. she wanted to go to cancun but i said no. just kidding , she is only three 3/4...we painted a picture of monster, a castle, princess and a pony today..i got a little to into the monster...

I am loving the platters. You sort of get used to the loss, Raku is the same for me, I lose 2 out of five pieces every firing without fail.
It makes the good ones even more special though :)

True yin-yang huh? Beautiful paintings and love the images on your large platters but any breakage is never easy to take -even when you made a sale! You have a good attitude though, one that I'm learning is essential to clay work.

thank you beautiful ladies of the art-time. yes, learning to accept loss and being grateful are the twin keys to an open heart and deep joy. or so i am told;), busted platters still kill me a bit!
